Athletics are an integral part of the school’s educational program. The opportunity to try-out for interscholastic teams is available to students in Grades 6-8. Sports offerings include field hockey and soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter, and softball and baseball in the spring. Intramural Sports will also be offered to Grades 5-8 but will vary by season.

    2:35 PM – 4:15 pm (3:40 PM dismissal for those needing to take the late bus)

    *11/15 no late bus

    The purpose of the Intramural Basketball program is to provide an opportunity for every student at Westbrook Middle School to participate in a sports activity as regularly as his/her interest, ability, and time permits.  This will be accomplished through drills and modified game activities to develop all of the differing skill levels of each participant. This program is led by Coach Doug Werth.


    1. To provide wholesome and healthy activity for recreation and relaxation from school work.
    2. To provide equipment, facilities and encourage participation in sports.

    3 . To stimulate an interest in athletics and recreation through a high quality program.

    1. To provide an opportunity to develop sportsmanship.
    2. To provide the opportunity for every student regardless of his/her ability to realize the joy and fun of participation in their favorite sport.
    EEE Mosquito Advisory & Policy Update for athletics & outdoor activities:

    Please be advised that due to the continued Mosquito carried EEE threat and latest advisories from DPH and our own Public Health Director, the Westbrook Public Schools as of today is adjusting protocols for all athletic games, competitions and practices as well as any other outdoor activities to a 5:30pm hard stop. Again, all games, competitions and practices or any other outdoor after school activities will be subject to a hard stop at 5:30pm.  This practice will remain in place until October 16th or through the first hard frost.
